East Bend Art Camp - Day 1
What an absolutely awesome first day we had at art camp today. I am teaching a week-long Art Enrichment workshop for 3rd - 5th graders with my friend, Sharon Grubbs at her beautiful log cabin studio in East Bend, NC. We have a lot of exciting projects to cover this week, and we started a lot of them today. Each day we will focus on a different period of art, learn about some of the artists of that period and create masterpieces in their style. We will experience drawing, painting, collage, sculpture, and mixed media art. Come see what we did today. . . it was a busy day and lots of fun!

East Bend Art Camp - Day 2
WOW! . . . were we tired yesterday after working hard at art camp . . . but what a fun tired, and we are back today to create some more masterpieces. The art period that we will concentrate on today is "Long Long Ago" — the Renaissance Period, and we will learn about the art styles and masters of that era. Come join us as we explore so many new things about art and its history.

East Bend Art Camp - Day 3
What a perfect day for "Sunny and Free" . . . Today we learned about the Impressionist Artists and how they painted the way that sunlight falls on an object or landscape. The morning was beautiful and just beckoned us outdoors to draw and paint. We spent part of the morning sketching a landscape outdoors, noticing how some things are far away and look gray or blue-ish, like the sky and distant trees or hills and how somethings are closer and look bigger, brighter and warm sunny colors like yellows, oranges and reds.

East Bend Art Camp - Day 4
The Kids really had fun with "Wild and Wacky" Day. We began the morning by looking at the art work of some of the abstract artists who created some really crazy art work . . . artists like Picasso, Matisse, Kandinsky, and Klee. It looked really weird after the realistic things of the earlier art periods. We also finished up some of the art pieces that we started earlier in the week. We looked at pictures and learned about M.C. Escher's very different and interesting art work called tessellations. Look at some of the funny abstract art we created.

East Bend Art Camp - Day 5
Our fifth and final day of art camp at Sharon's studio in East Bend, NC. Our theme for today was "Modern Art," and we learned about the art of today, some of the contemporary artists and some careers in which we could use our own individual creativity and artistic skills and talents. It has been such an awesome week where we focused on 5 distinct periods of art history, creating art typical of each of the periods of art. The children were wonderful — fun, inquisitive, creative, energetic and they created some really neat works of art which we shared at an art show at the end of the day today. It was truly a blessing to be to be able to work with these students and with Sharon.
We had an awesome week . . . pleae check my Facebook albums to see photos of the many wonderful works of art that we created and the many fun things we did this week . . . just too many to include here.
