Best Buddies

This is a portrait of my little Shih Tzu, Maggie and Allyson's rescue dog, Noel. They were about the same age and used to play together when they were puppies. When Allyson moved to Seattle and, of course, took Noel with her, they didn't see each other for 4 years. When Allyson died, I adopted Noel and brought her back to Winston-Salem.  The first thing she did was run into Allyson's room and jump on her bed. Noel and Maggie didn't play and "rough house" like they used to, but they were best buddies and loved to sit on Allyson's bed and look out the window together. I loved painting this and used only 4 colors (Yellow Ochre, Ultramarine Blue, Burnt Sienna and Burnt Umber) plus white.
