This is one of the paintings that I did at a pastel workshop taught by Elsie Popkin. What an honor to learn from her . . . she was a remarkable and well-known artist from my hometown in Winston-Salem, NC. This colorful garden reminds me of her garden paintings, full of beautiful and colorful summer flowers. I can see her now, painting on the side of the road with two huge tables loaded with trays of pastels. I am wondering what she did when a surprise rain storm hit?
