Yellow Sea Fans Study

 This underwater "scape"  was painted from a photo I took when we were diving in the beautiful Coral Sea off the coast of Australia.  I painted this "quick study" to figure out the color scheme, composition  and mark making for my real and final painting.  Sometimes the "quick studies" are looser and more exciting than the final pieces which sometimes are over worked.  I love how the yellow sea fans against the cool blue-violet water catch your attention.  So fun to be creating paintings of my favorite activities in my favorite places!  It brings back such wonderful memories!
