Blue Hydrangeas

This was a fun experiment!  The under painting was a black monoprint on Rives Printmaking Paper where I applied the sticky black ink on a piece of glass with a roller and then wiped out the lighter areas which consisted of the flowers; I then applied the paper, rubbing it evenly to create a black and white print. Following the lights and darks, I applied the pastels in the appropriate colors to create a pastel painting over the monoprint. I feel as if I am looking out my sun room window at the gorgeous hydrangeas that grace my backyard.
